Wireless broadband is a technology whereby a connection to the internet is made by a radio connection to a centrally placed antenna.
The centrally placed antenna can act on a point to multi point , or point to point basis. Fixed wireless has been around for decades and has been used by military, government, and various communications companies over the years. Within the past few years, fixed wireless broadband has become commercially available to business and residential communities.
High bandwidth solutions are available from 512K up to 100Mb and above, depending upon the type of radio system used. The connection from a LAN network from the radio and the antenna is via a regular Ethernet cable.
